As the family and I waited for our Tom Yam lunch at Vicchuda's, we saw the lady owner of the shop with very unusual taste for her jewelry. Heavily made-up, she was wearing a fuschia baju kurung and two gold cuffs and lots of bangles on each of her arms. Seeing that, a conversation was brought up.
My dad's saying of the day. The above title. "Orang dulu-dulu kata.." that type of saying. Mama's reaction
"Huh? Iye ke? How come I've never heard of it?"
Abah, in response to that, sniggers like a small kid and replies "Aiih mama..."
Hahah he almost got me there.
Explanation?
Okay, you know how the old ladies from the kampung like to wear gold jewelry? Most of them like to wear a stack of gold bangles on one arm. According to my father, "segelongsor gelang emas" is sort of like a simpulan bahasa to show time, around 10am to 4pm.
Still doesn't make sense? Mmm yeah, because there's more to it.
So these ladies go pointing here and there when the time is mentioned. So when they point, like upwards or whatever, and the stack of bangles fall down along the arm (dunno how to put it) , that is the time when you use "segelongsor gelang emas". This is all what my dad said, so from my understanding is..
The ladies are pointing to the position of the sun. So if it is at night, you can't use segelongsor gelang emas, because there is no sun!
hahaha. Kind of stupid but I was trying to make out even the slightest possibility of the simpulan bahasa being true. Mangkuk.
In addition to that, buying a new book made my day! =}
Sadly, I can't rely on Yahoo! Messenger pals anymore. Not much.
And I just realized most of my elation comes from make-believe, fantasy and angan-angans. Pathetic. But as long as I'm surviving, I'll be okay.
Till the straw berries.
